Fly Fishers republic
A cracking site with lots to go at. One item of particular interest to anglers on the Ribble is Ian Fleming's piece on his efforts to return the Upper Ribble beyond Helwith Bridge, to a wild trout fishery. Plenty of food for thought there.
Go Fly Fishing UK
A brilliant company that do everything from coaching to river guiding. Steve Rhodes who is one of the driving forces in the company is a member of SAA a fully credited coach and guide and a keen Grayling fisherman. A company well worth checking out.
Keep Tying
A brilliant free fly tying site with heaps of patterns and illustrations. A wealth of information. Terrific.
Manchester Anglers Keepers Blog
Ian Fleming writes a terrific blog on the Manchester Anglers website. MAA have most of the Ribble north of Helwith Bridge and also have a fine natural tarn north of Horton at Newhouses
Ribble Fisheries Consultative Association
An umbrella organisation which fights terrifically hard for the river Ribble, the fish in the river and the members rights of the clubs that fish it. Well informed and strident when necessary, it has close links to the Environment Agency and many other organisations.
Ribblesdale Angling
A neighboring club whose waters abut ours at Arnford but who also have many other good stretches of the Ribble at Sawley and beyond. A very active club.
Skipton Flytyers
A cracking little fly tying club that meets on the third Monday of every month at the Oddfellows Club in Skipton. There are demonstrations of everything from individual flies to the preperation of hides and skins for tying. The Oddfellows Club is right next to the lorry park in Skipton.
The Grayling Society
Devoted to the "Queen of the river" and all things to do with her, whether trotting a long line on the Ribble or casting a grayling bug into a chalk stream. Lots of information on the grayling, its distribution, habits and conservation. A society well worth joining.
The Wild Trout Trust
The trust do a sterling job protecting and improving the future of the wild trout population of Britain and Ireland through the conservation and restoration of their habitats.
Yorkshire Dales Flyfishing
A great site for anything to do with fishing the Dales – from casting courses to river guiding and with a fly shop too. A great site.

The best suppliers of good quality feathers that we know; their dyeing is second to none and the quality of their feathers is amazing.
Coch-Y-Bonddu Books
Simply the best supplier of new and second-hand books on fish, fishing, fly-tying and all realated subjects that we've come across. The shop in Maccynlleth is a treasure trove and their website is terrific. The staff are incredibly helpful and Paul who runs the shop has produced some amazing reproductions of angling classics.
Cookshill Fly Tying
Run by Steve Cooper who also organises the BFFI fly fair in November each year Cookshill is the best place on earth for traditional North Country Spider tying materials: Snipe / Partridge / Pheasant / Coot – Cookshill keeps everything you can think of. Added to that Steve also manages to keep quantities of high quality tying materials for traditional salmn and sea-trout flies. All Cookshill stuff is absolutely the best.

Fly Only
Fly Only have an extensive and well-priced collection of materials and tackle. It's well worth a trip to look around their well-stocked showrooms and if young Dylan is there tying his flies you might just get a lesson in great tying.
Fly Tying Boutique
Run by Phil Holding a great flyter and fisherman this site holds a lot of interesting and hard to get hold of materials. Sister site to Spiders Plus. Well worth a look. Phil also helps organise a fly tyers club in Skipton on the third monday of each month.
Glasgow Angling Centre
Probably the biggest collection of things piscatorial we have ever seen under one roof – from a canoe to a cast, from a spey rod to a little brook rod – they seem to have just about everything and their e-shopping is first class.
Lakeland Flytying
A great mail order firm with extensive supplies of tools and materials. Their Ken Newton bobbin holders are world class especially the smaller version which is ideal for Pearsall's smaller bobbins.
Lawrence Finney
A great flytyer and supplier of materials in Ireland. HIs flies are little gems and he has some of the nicest materials we have ever seen. He also runs classes in fly-tying.
McHardy’s of Carlisle
McHardy's have been looking after anglers for years and years. Their shop in Carlisle is well worth a visit, the staff know their onions and if it isn't there then they can get it for you very quickly. An Aladdin's cave for fly tyers.
Spiders Plus
A great source of ready tied North Country flies and materials. Also the only source we know of some of the most interesting recent fly tying tools and materials such as Weizz surgical scissors and Norland vises. Phil Holding who runs the company is always very helpful.
The Essential Fly
Constantly innovative the company supplies finished flies and materials. Their finished flies like Sandy's Bank Busters – are having a massive impact on both stillwater and rivers. Their new Tubeology system for tube flies was a best seller at the recet BFFI in Stafford
The Medlar Press
A fine publishing house that has a wonderful list of beautifully produced books on angling. Well worth checking out.

Wharfedale Angling Classics
A great little shop in one of Yorkshire's fine little arcades. A visit there is well worth it and we have it from a reliable source that they also serve Lancastrians. A great selection of tools, tackle and material.
